Anglo-Saxon Gold and Cloisonné Finger Ring. Circa 9th-10th century CE. Johnson’s. Class D, Type 2a. 3.34g. 19.23 mm. 17.20 mm internal. UK ring size, M. US size 6. Formed of a flat wide band that widens at the shoulders and joins the circular bezel, each decorated with granulated beads. The bezel has a band of beaded wire around its base and a raised collet set with a panel of gold wire and enamel forming a cross motif with a central quatrefoil and circular terminals on each of the cross arms filled with white enamel. The cross has alternating blue and green enamel in each quarter. Ref: Johnson. 2014. Damadged and distorted when found, restored sympathetically and by no means perfect.
